*DIY* earrings from a plastic bottle

I have a ring with a butterfly on it. I have a necklace with a butterfly as a addition to the set. Unfortunately the butterfly earrings I had, were way to heavy for my sensitive ears. So, I had to do something. Since I love to create stuff, I decided to make something, to please myself.

Things I used:

  • a plastic bottle;
  • scissors;
  • awl or something sharp;
  • nail polish;
  • pen/pencil;
  • lighter;
  • small hooks for the earrings;
  • patience!;

Things I did:

  • first, I cut pieces from the bottle. Their width depends on the type of earrings you want to make. But, before I cut them I outlined the shape I wanted. I used my necklace as a pattern, as you can see below. After making the first butterfly, I used it as a pattern for the second one.

  • after that I worked with the lighter on the edges of the shapes – so they can’t scratch my neck.

  • I made holes with the awl for the hooks.

  • this is the part where I decided what color I would use. I needed a lot of patience, till the nail polish dried.

  • after coloring the pieces I attached the hooks to them and (drums please) I had my new earrings. 🙂
